Hi,

we had applied for France schengen visa on 21st March 2017 and it got rejected stating the reason that "proof of sufficient means of subsistence is not provided.....".

We are an unmarried couple and visa got rejected for both us. we had paid for our return airfare, AIRBNB and local transportation. we were to cover Paris (4 days), Barcelona (3 days), Prague (2 days) and Belgium (1 day). our flight was from Mumbai to Belgium and return.

we were very heart broken to get visa rejection as we were so close to traveling dates and it happened.

17.02.2017 Mumbai - Belgium
28.04.2017 Belgium - Mumbai

We had attached following documents in application.
1. bank statement for last 6 months - both us had more than INR 100000 in each account
2. Last three years Form 16
3. Last three months salary slips
4. NOC letter from the employer
5. Return air tickets
6. AIRBNB confirmations
7. Local transportation pre booked and pre paid receipts

we thought we had covered almost everything and we were confident that we would get the visa. unfortunately that did not happen.

now, again on 5th April 2017 we applied again with few changes. we cut down the Barcelona and Prague visit. Increased our stay at Paris and increased our bank balance to INR 300000 in each account. additionally, we attached other investment papers like FD, Insurance Papers, Parents financial documents (to show some ties at native). attached letter of employment as well. since i use trip advisor often and i review many places i attached a screen shot of that as well to show that i am genuine traveler and i am a travel lover.

What are the chances with reapplication?

There is no way to tell. I'm assuming you are Indian citizens and that should not cause a red flag. I think everyone is just paranoid right now because of all the recent terror attacks and all the immigration into France. A lot depends on who is looking at the application. It sounds like you have done everything you could do. I hope you get your visa.

Bonne chance. :)

What are the chances with reapplication?

Have you re-applied or are you asking if you should re-apply?

From the info you have provided I would be very surprised if they knock you back this time.
Your thread is a good reminder for people to not pay for trips before getting a visa confirmed .. or did they actually ask for confirmed flights etc?

But, if they don't want your hard earned money, spend it in another country .. the world is a big place . . although you don't have a lot of options for visa free travel .. wikipedia gives a list as a guide.

Myanmar is very nice & not too far from India .. I stopped off in India en route from Canada to Myanmar last year.

To apply for Schengen visa, you must have your pre paid return tickets, hotels and others. Without that they won't issue you visa.

Yes, Myanmar is a beautiful country. Will surely be visiting there, but for as of now, Paris is topping our list.

Good luck. I lived in France for nearly 2 years and the bureaucracy can be difficult.
