So, my traveling companion has ditched out fairly last minute on a trip from 24 May- 6 June to Dubai. Anyone else going to be in the area at the time? I'm a 27 year old US woman- been traveling around a lot this year- and I'm looking for some friends to make it fun.

I think 3-4 days is enough in Dubai, with a day in Abu Dhabi and perhaps some time in Sharjah.

As you have time, I'd highly recommend Oman - it's a great place to visit with lots to see and do and is easily accessible from Dubai.

Quoting caribirdie

why not?

Because it's a souless, plastic, bling-filled city that (in my opinion) gets really old, really fast.

It's a great transport hub though offering loads of options to easily escape to.

Have fun and safe travels no matter what you decide.

Cheers,
Terry

Hola,

I am currently living in Dubai, I can show you around, but I am not sure if I will be there during that time :D

But be warned, it is gonna be HOT with a lot of Humidity during that period, so outdoors activities such as all day beach, kite surfing, etc... won't be a good option, you will end up with indoors activities such as malls and so on. Although Dubai has a very good nightlife, Ramadan (Muslims fasting month) will start on 27th of May, and almost all bars/clubs will be closed during that month :( , Dubai is good for 4 days, not more than that, I suggest you mix it up with another country, any Asian country you didn't visit before or so

I will go to Dubai 15 June. Unfortunately, I couldn't see you.

I visited a camel market not too far away, at AL AIN .. that would be worth a visit if it is still there. Remember, if you buy one & want to fit it in your suitcase, the legs fold backwards.

AL AIN city also has more than one Oasis .. not a surprise as AL AIN means the Spring & I am surprised I have no memory of visiting any.

I must have a look at my TP blog to refresh my memory. Here it is http://hasbeen.travellerspoint.com/198/ & I must say, not much to say about the Oasis, nor the camels.
