Hey all,
So I'm from Tasmania and I'm 23 years old. I have solo hiked lots of mountains in Tasmania and I'm willing to share my local advise.
Please comment below or -snip- for more information.
Thanks Alex

Hey Alex,
I'm flying into Tasmania (Hobart) on Saturday for 4 days. Do you have any advice on what we could comfortably see in that time? We were thinking of driving the east coast this time and coming back to see the west another! Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi diz-g,
Thank you for your reply,
What did you want to get out of coming to Tasmania first ? Are you in to hiking, easy strolls, driving, wine and dining, rock climbing there are just to many options. ?

Hi Alex,
We want to try fit in as much as possible while we're there but both my friend and I love hiking so if you could recommend some short hikes that would be amazing. We also both love wine but as we'll be driving we've decided to hold off on any tasting until we're in the comfort of our accommodation!
Awesome, well for short hiking you guys are including the right spot, there's an app called Tasmanias best short hikes which is really handy.
I would recommend going to mt Amos at frycient national park it's a short but steep hike on the east coast. Then you maybe able to fit in st pattys head a less known hidden gem which is on the way to Launceston but just before st Mary's then I would stop off in Launceston for a night and hike around the cataract George early if you can before driving to cradle mt if you have time and spending a night there. Then driving back down either west coast or I'd recommend driving back down the middle straight to Hobart and go and explore mt Wellington and harts park (harts peak is stunning). I hope this helps more days the better here. It's a big island as you'll find out.
I was on a cruise ship that left Tasmania & the captain pulled up opposite Cape Raoul so we could have an amazing view of the Basalt columns there. From the sea it is a fantastic sight but can one even get to it from the landward side?
Hi has been,
there is an awesome long hike you can do to experience it by land and you can also see one of the worlds most famous surf breaks too. We have it all here in Tasmania .
Thanks so much for all of this information! I think I only realised how big the island is after booking and starting the research on where to go and what to see. I'll definitely have to plan another longer trip to see whatever is missed this time as there seems to be absolutely heaps of gorgeous places to visit in Tassie!
any time. a must do is the hike up mt amos. its kind of a big one! enjoy tassie. ill be back on Friday. if you guys let me know where you are I could show you around.
