The Las Vegas weather forecasters have been waiting all June to announce: "The blow dryer Is back!" We have been very hot all last week. We tied our all time high of 117 (47c) last week and have been over 110 (43c) for nine consecutive days. It was also very dry, under 10% humidity everyday. But there was not much wind. Today, June 26th we had the perfect combination: Hot 110 (43c), dry, 5% humidity, windy, gusts over 25 mph. Las Vegas is hot in the summer months, but it is a dry heat. A bit like standing before the Gates of Hell. Sure its hot, but it is a dry heat.

Does that mean sweat happens but instantly evaporates?

Basically YES!.With very low humidity, sweat does evaporate quickly. I spent 8 winters in Thailand grew to hate the combo of 95 (35c) temp with 90% humidity. Sweat never evaporates and you always feel you need another shower. Just plain sticky and uncomfortable.

Sounds like heaven .. unlike an Ottawa summer, that sounds like Thailand

Thanks Becky. It is hot for 4 months, but you do adjust to it. Everything is air conditioned so you basically go from your a/c house to your a/c to an a/c business. The real troopers are those that have to work in it. Our construction workers start at 4 am and are ready to quit by 1 pm. After Sept. they go back to 'normal' working hours. If you have a flexible schedule, try to hit Vegas in Oct. Nov. We are still wearing shorts/t-shirts, but it cools off at night.

I just put up my blog on Japan. Take a look when you have time. It is too long, so I will still be editing it. I don't offer much advice anymore as almost every answer is online. I am still helping TP members buy vehicles when they come to the states. Thanks for all you do for TP.

I will take a look at your blog Mike - it's my favourite country in the world so I'll look forward to reading what you had to say about it. I saw some of your photos and they're great.

I'm jealous!
We experience summer in Perth just like you guys are having now. Mind you, I am still having issues getting used to the dry oven heat of summer in Perth as I was born and bred in Queensland where humidity reigns.
But right now it is winter.... and we are freezing our buuuts off!! But Perth is not the coldest place in Australia. Capital Canberra has been below freezing for a week now! Brrrr.
I'm still jealous ;)

Come to Vegas to warm up! Of course 6 months from now you will be back in the oven again.
