Still have lots of countries that I want to visit. Well, I will visit Korea soon, too. But what about you guys? any good country to recommend me?

So how come you're advising on Laos and New York on other threads, if you've not been to them?

Since I live in the States, I didn't count visiting New York as a country. And I like watching travel channel and there was one that was about travelling to Laos.

We have been to 45 so far and more than 25 since Feb 2016 when we sold up everything to travel. We aren't trying to see as many countries as possible, but like to spend a bit longer in each place to get a good feel for each. We loved Vietnam, Portugal,, France, Malaysia, and many more, but those stand out for us.

16 not counting Vatican City which is supposed to be a country. We go most often to France and then try to fit in another country nearby if we have time or something special to see. We've zipped past Andorra and San Marino but never crossed into either. Some day . . .

I've been to 50 countries - counting the Vatican City and the USA where we live - I've been to every state except Idaho, Oregon and North Dakota. Foreign (non-US) countries starting in 1950 when I was 12. Some South and Central America - but mostly Europe and the Caribbean. Only Tangier in Africa on a day trip and only Indonesia and Australia in the south Pacific. I'm planning on going to Tanzania next year.

I usually will pick a small region and travel extensively in that region so I don't end up seeing a lot of countries but I see a lot of the countries I do visit. I guess my number would be 24 though some online travel maps list territories (like Gibraltar or Puerto Rico) as seperate countries and then my total is 27. So I guess it depends how you define "country".

Agree there are lots of differing accounts for the total number of countries. Apparently there are 195 countries, plus Vatican and Palestine - so 197 seems to be the number. Then you have all those other territories like Gibraltar, Puerto Rico, Scotland, Wales - about 60 of them!!

But I think most agree
"The independent country is not only self-governed nation with own authorities, this status needs the international diplomatic recognition of sovereignty. Thereby, we can say, that the total number of independent states in the world are 197, including fully recognized 193 members of the United Nations, 2 countries, Vatican City and Palestine, have the status of permanent observers in the UN. Another 2 states we include are Kosovo (recognized by 111 UN members) and Taiwan (recognized by 22 countries)."
