Does anyone here have recent experience of trekking up Mt Toubkal, Morocco in December? [We're thinking of doing it in December 2018.] Is a guide necessary? Can we hire any equipment in Imlil? Do we need to book at the refuge? Can we buy an evening meal and then breakfast/lunch for the climb at the refuge?

How would this sound: Day 1 Marrakech to Imlil, Day 2 trek to the refuge and stay there overnight, Day 3 trek up to the summit and back, stay overnight at refuge, Day 4 back to Imlil and to Marrakech?

Any advice gratefully received!! - Thanks

Sounds like the refuge is first come first serve. There are some contact details here, perhaps they can help?

Thanks Teoni. I'd seen some of those already but it's difficult to get more up-to-date information - the SummitPost forums are almost ten years old and the only modern link focuses more on the technical mountaineering side. The official booking site has prices listed as Summer 2014 but I will try the e-mail addresses. Have you been up there yourself?

Unfortunately no:(, I did look into it awhile back, but life got in the way I have to say a little surprised there aren't more resources than when I first looked I think it may be the fact there seems to be more trekking companies than there use to be, probably taking up all the Google search space. Oh I did find a map though. Perhaps this will help you in planning:). I do hope those emails work out:
