Hi everyone,

Me and my partner are currently backpacking in Australia & are thinking of planning a trip to India in 2018.
Our initial rough plan was to fly into New Delhi, visit the Taj Mahal, take the train to Mumbai and end our trip in Goa.
Has anyone done a similar route around India? And if so, what would you recommend doing whilst we are in each place?
We are both in our mid-twenties and enjoy trying new food, going for walks/ hikes but also like relaxing at the beach with a cocktail too! (Why is why Goa appealed to us)

Does anyone has any tips on transport - Trains/ flights to each place, transport from airports and general transport around each town/ city?
Is there an 'ideal' time of year to visit (warm enough to sunbathe but also to walk around without being uncomfortable)?
If anyone could recommend any restaurants/ areas for the best street food that would be really appreciated?
And lastly, if anyone has stayed in any really great accommodation (hotels and guesthouses - We usually stay in hotels when we are travelling)?

Thankyou :)

A few years ago we used buses and trains to get around India travelling from Kathmandu across the border and then to Varanasi by train, on to Agra by train, through Delhi and up to Amritsar by train, across to Lahore by bus and taxi and then back again (the Wagah border ceremony is brilliant), back to Amritsar and then Agra by train, to Jaipur and then Jodhpur and Udaipur by bus, into Mumbai by bus and then down to Palelom Beach, Goa by train (then across to Chennai by train and out at the airport). That was December & January - perfect weather; definitely doable. PM me if you want more details. :):)

I'm not sure that there is any time of year that is especially comfortable in India.
It's always VERY HOT! (unless you're going to the very north)
So how comfortable it is for you will depend on your ability to tolerate the heat.
But it's an amazing country and well worth putting up with the heat to see.

India is the best destination to visit and you pic most thrilling destination but I think you should visit to Jaipur and Udaipur in Rajasthan . Jaipur is popular for its royal houses and glorious monuments in Its. Udaipur is a city of lakes and there are city palace attracts to many tourist in every year. November is the best month to visit in India and in this season you feel good and adjust Indian environment .
