Hi. Could somebody tell me where is the best neighbourhood to stay in Dubrovnik, in order to have public transport close to the place as I will not rent a car? What is better? Historic quarter or surrounding areas? Thanks.

I can't speak to the bus service since we did rent a car but I would say when it comes to accommodation in Dubrovnik there are things to take into account. Outside the city walls in the suburban areas there are a number of accommodations but these places are on hills and walking to the historic city requires going up and down a lot of stairs. Around the Bellevue Beach area I was told was a bit of a party area (I don't know if that is your scene) past there from what I could tell it becomes a bit of a hotel and resort hub and when I travelled that area didn't have much of in the way of cheap accommodation. We did stay in the hills and personally I was quite happy with that as it meant we could walk to most of the places we wanted to see.

For bus information, this site might help:

It has a good run down of the routes you'll most likely need and links to all the resources.
