Google "Things to do in Hanoi" on internet (2 nights in Hanoi is ok). Besides Hanoi in North of VN, there are some MUST SEE places such as Halong Bay (1 or 2 nights - Overnight on junk or Cat Ba island or both), Ninh Binh (1 night stay for Trang An and Tam Coc) and Sapa (At least 3 nights including 2 night trains).

2 days in Hanoi are ample for you. Interesting things to do like joining a street food on foot in the Old Quarter (including Bia Hoi and egg coffee), renting a motorbike to get to every corner, crossing the road among the crazy traffic. Then you can depart for some surroundings like Halong Bay, Ninh Binh (Van Long or Thung Nham, etc). If you are big fan of trekking or hiking, let's pack and head to Northern provinces (Mu Cang Chai, Nghia Lo, Hoang Su Phi, and so on). Good luck!

Hanoi is a city of museums. If you love history and culture, you can go to the national museum and Hoa Lo Prison, Old Quarter, Temple of Literature, watch Water Puppet Show.
For food and drink, I recommend: egg coffee, beer at Ta Hien, bun cha, cha ca la vong, banh mi.
Go to Halong or Ninh Binh if you love nature.

Check out the Night Market at Hanoi's Old Quarter, visit the Turtle Lake, check out Ngoc Son temple, if you are into opera catch a show at the Hanoi Opera House and catch a water puppet show at Thang Long Puppet Theatre.
You should try out pho and Bun Cha Hanoi - grilled meat with sweet, tangy broth.

In addition to what the others previously mentioned, if you are into visiting UNESCO Heritage sites, the Central Sector of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long - Hanoi is worth a couple of hours' visit.
