Hi Folks,

I have to admit that the time I spent doing volunteering in Latin America gave me the opportunity to know better the history and cultural life of the countries that I have been lately.

I also realized that there are many options to make short travels and develop community work by joining different NGOs in Latin American. Sometimes they could cover some expenses and give you the chance to blend with local people …I have heard that Dominican Republic has pretty good options mainly starting on late February. I found that you can apply for those options online, but …I strongly recomend you to visit the country to contact them directly. I personally know some in Santo Domingo. And I am still researching about others, so I will post more details as soon as I get more information.

However I recomend to those who wants to travel to Latin American to take some time to organize in advance the details of your trips, considering the places you want to visit and the cheaper options for you, …sometimes you need to be patient to fulfill your dreams.

Hi John, your information and experiences sound interesting and you should consider writing it up as a blog about volunteering around Latin America. Also you might want to use the words Latin America rather than the abbreviation L.A. I think most people will assume L.A refers to Los Angeles. Here is the link for creating your own blog:

Hi Folks!

Thanks Teoni for your comment, I think it would be great if I could share my experiences with all you guys, but I am not so sure if I could write it up as a blog, but I will take your suggestion into consideration.
