ooo! I'm excited to see how this Harptravels guy is going to bounce! I have my suspicions!

Harpy Travel would be a better name.
I am appalled to see the level of heat the OP is getting here. My God, nobody ever broke the law here ?

Come on, it is not like the guy overstayed because he was planning a terrorist attack.
So first, I'd like to congratulate on the birth of the kid, great !

Second, I'd advise to get in contact with a consulate, physically or by phone and see how the situatio can be sorted. I am pretty sure OP will at least avoid getting the kind of crap he gets here, which is 'you broke the law, now face it'.

I think that's probably exact what he'll get.
If he'd tried to extend whilst he was still 'within time' I'm sure they would have tried to arrange something but not by trying to sort it after the event...

Shoud have said;

I think that's a bit inflammatory. This forum is to help travellers, not lawbreakers, and people have been posting in that spirit.

With all due respect, the previous replies are not all 'crap'. Using such blanket derogation about other members says a great deal more about you than about their responses.

The OP asked:

> will I be questioned in germany, is there another way around this?

and I for one attempted to give a purely factual answer to those questions.

Phoning the consulate is still an option but, especially as the overstay has been so long and no previous contact with the consulate has been made, it is highly unlikely to exempt the OP from the normal consequences of overstaying in the Schengen Zone. And it is anyway not usual for one country to dictate how another should behave in such circumstances......nor even to mitigate on the individual's behalf.

It is true that some posters were perhaps a little harsh but in truth that is probably the attitude he will recieve from border police or consulate officials. Truth is they will be highly suspicious of his story. There are probably many who have made up a sob story in order to receive more lenient treatment. They will ask the same questions brought up here like why didn't he try to legally extend his stay before over staying? Why did it take him so long to realise he had over stayed? He is going to have to be prepared to cop a lot of "crap"

Well after over staying in europe for over 7 months past my Visa expiry date I made it through customers no questions asked. Custom officers as they all do, look blunt and unhappy. He quickly flicked through my passport with out checking initial arrival date, and pretty strange as he scanned it also and nothing came up, where as I thought something would of alerted him on his computer if he missed my stamp of arrival. Anyhow I wont be doing that again.

You were extremely lucky that the officer decided to overlook your overstay, which most certainly would have come up on the shared system when the passport was scanned .

I'm very pleased to hear that you won't be doing it again.

Despite them not mentioning the overstay, there's a fair chance you'll have problems entering when you come back to Europe again (Unless it's all fallen apart by then).
