Hey everyone,

I just launched a new photo uploader today, so let me know if you notice any bugs.

It might appear fairly similar to the old one, but it should be an improvement in a number of ways.

1. It can handle uploading a lot more photos at once. Uploads used to go to Travellerspoint's server, then from there up to the cloud where all the photos are permanently stored. Now they're going straight to the cloud and the cloud is doing the processing. End result, a lot more scalability and some load off our main web server. This is really the biggest change because it meant entirely rewriting the code.
2. It will start uploading as soon as you select the files. No need to click two buttons
3. I've turned the two tick boxes (allow featuring , show in gallery) into preferences. So once you check them, they will be remembered for the next time.
4. I've removed the option to store photos as a backup. I just don't feel that we need to be doing that when there are so many dedicated backup solutions available these days. Any photos previously uploaded with that option checked will remain stored. There's a small note that appears in the photo management area for those people who have photos stored as a backup.
5. A new larger version of photos is also being stored now. Not exposed anywhere yet, but it will be. I need it for the new boards feature in particular. And just because 800 pixels is proving not big enough these days.

Anyway, please do let me know of any bugs. I've tested quite a few different photos from different sources to hopefully make it as smooth as possible. But it is basically a complete rewrite, so the chance of there being a bug in there seems high :)

Also, not on mobile yet, and not in the blogging area yet either. Both will be updated fairly soon.

Sounds good, especially having a larger version :)

Hi there
I’m travelling only with my iPhone 7 and need to upload pics.
Now Arugma has lost the URL to Travellerspoint and I don’t know what to do. I tried to upload directly with your new uploader but all pics say ‘Failed’.
Any idea when it will be available on mobile? Or should I stick to Arugma? If so what’s the URL to give?

Peter, This is great. I tried it first with one photo and then uploaded three at once. No problems at all. If there are any bugs, I'll leave them for someone else to find. I thought it was great. Much faster.

Thank you so much.

Hi Danielle, the uploader should actually work on mobile (it does on my iPhone SE). It’s just not on the mobile site yet.

The fact it’s failing for you means there’s some other problem. I’ll send you a PM. It would be good to test uploading with the same file you’re trying to upload.

Is there a limit on number? I just tried a bunch and they all failed to save (or at least they said they failed)

No, there’s no limit.

One thing that might help is logging out and logging in again. It’s possible if you had remember me ticked that it needs a fresh login. Let me know if that helps or not.

I had the same problem as greatgrandmaR. Indeed it helped logging out and in again.
Now I do not get the message 'Save failed', but with six out of seven photo's:
' is undefined' and the save failed anyhow.
Don't know what that means. All photo's were shot with the same Panasonic camera.

I did a whole bunch earlier but just now I got 6 out of 20 that failed with the message "data undefined"

I just tried and all 16 went through smoothly and quickly. Much faster than with the old one.

There is one function I miss in the new uploader, though: the option to add tags already before starting the upload. Could this please be added? It's so much easier to set the tags for all of them than page by page, only 10 at a time.
