I was looking at the bogus -what is your favorite place in Europe thread and trying to figure out what my favorite place in Europe is. And I'm thinking it is either Cornwall or else Barcelona. But my favorite place changes according to where I've been recently.

So I thought to ask. Where in the US or Canada is the favorite place to visit of people who are not FROM the US or Canada. If you live in Europe, Asia, Africa or Australia, what is your favorite place to visit here.

Dead Horse State Park, Utah - just outside Canyonlands - magical!

I've never been to either of those places. I should go at least to Utah.

(and I forgot to add South America or the Caribbean as places you could be from)

I am not very good at saying what my favorite place is - anywhere in the world. I just don't know.

From what I have seen of Canada, I did love Quebec City, Banff and Jasper NP. I also enjoyed Algonquin. Because I am a volcano fanatic I can't look past Yellowstone NP the Great Smoky Mountains were amazing while Bryce Canyon also fascinated me. I would also put Pensacola Beach as a top sight along with the Florida Keys while my favourite city so far is Miami. If you are counting territories I also loved USVI.

I would have to say my favourite place out of USA and Canada is Hawaii, Island of Hawaii being my most favourite then Molokai, Kauai and Oahu. Mauna Kea and Hawaii Volcano NP are so far my top sights. The irony is travelling through Hawaii it didn't feel like I was in the United States, which apparently the owner of our apartment in Kona said is a compliment to Hawaiians

I usually take my grandchildren (one at a time) to a place outside the US. One of them I took to Hawaii instead of to another country and it was . He was interested in volcanoes also so we went to Haleakala and we stayed a couple of days at Volcano NP, and also went to Yellowstone.

Canada in general and Quebec especially is well liked by Europeans. It has beautiful landscape and combines the best of 2 worlds, the old and the new. And they speak French, which de facto puts them in the category of the civilized people.

There seem to be also a consensus to like San Francisco. I personally love Chicago too, and Boston and Philadeplhia are high on my list, after NYC of course...

About nature I was awed like everybody I guess by the grand Canyon and by Niagara falls Bryce Canyon was fabulous too. And some more. I have a vision of a the sun setting down on the river Saguenay that never left me.

It's interesting that you would say NYC of course since some people seem to think it is disappointing or over-hyped.

Oh this is difficult Do I have to pick just one? Impossible! So I'll give you a selection of favourites ...

In Canada I think it would be Vancouver Island, but I've seen too little of that country to really say. And I've never been to Mexico (yet).

As to the US, my favourite city is definitely New York City and I also liked San Francisco and Seattle. But we tend not to spend a lot of time in cities when we visit, preferring to explore by road. So far we've done road trips in California, Oregon, Washington, Utah and Arizona, Wyoming, New Mexico, New England, North Carolina and Virginia, and Florida. My preference is for the western states over the east coast (NYC excepted) and my highlights would be:
Yosemite NP
Olympic Peninsula
Mount Rainier NP
North Rim of the Grand Canyon
Arches NP
Canyonlands
Santa Fe and Taos in NM, also Taos Pueblo and Acoma Pueblo

Overall my favourite states for exploring have been NM, CA, UT, AZ, WA - probably in that order but ask me tomorrow and I might give a different answer ;)

I agree - picking just one is almost impossible. So where would you be able to pick one favorite?
