I’m travelling to Peru soon and I’m curious if I can take my lighter with me. Back here in the states, they’ve already given a leeway when it comes to lighters. They allow one lighter per person inside the airport. I want to know if this applies to the airport in Peru too. They might not allow me to take my lighter with me when I travel back to America. If anyone could help me, I would really appreciate it.

Two years ago, I left Peru and they took my soap. I don't know about lighters...but I assume we're talking a nice Zippo or something? Because if it's some Bic thing, maybe move on. And, really...if you love something and are travellilng, leave the loved thing at home. You can buy a lighter three steps out the door.

If you are really "attached" to your lighter leave it home!

Who knows - you could even lose it on your trip or leave it on a bar table.

Sure you can take it to the airport. But you can't take it through security. They are even fussy about new, lighters who've never even had fluid put in. Likely they'll take it.

Maybe they throw it in the bin - maybe not! But at the end of the shift (and after the flight has departed) any good stuff is probably split between the crew!

Next time take a look in the box of confiscated stuff. All sorts of good stuff including some expensive items.

Take a couple packs of matches, hide them in separate places. Also if you really want to take a cheap lighter take 2 of them hide the one in a good place and the other in an obvious place to find, .they might over look the other. Best thing is take matches, u can always pick up a lighter.

"Disposable lighters (e.g., non-refillable Bic lighters) and Zippo lighters Permitted if passengers carry only one unit on their persons"

It's allowed but just like everyone else here, my sentiments are that if you have a valuable or treasured lighter, just leave it at home to be safe.
