Thanks for doing this Peter. Most of my TB content is duplicated here and the little I have that isn't I have saved as a Word document, so I won't need a transfer, but I'd encourage TB members with a lot of unique content to go for it :) A warning to those who haven't done this before though - you will still have to commit to spending time tidying it up, tagging and mapping photos etc. It's quite a task, but very worthwhile if you want to preserve material you devoted hours to creating, as I did on VT.

Thanks, Peter, I would be interested. In TB I used the same screen name: westwind57.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the warm welcome.
It would be a great option to import the blogs :)

Quoting Peter

A big welcome to any new members coming across from Travbuddy.

We aspire to be a friendly and welcoming community. Personally, I see the community as this site's core feature. As such we are highly intolerant of spam and anti-social behavior. If this sounds like a group you could enjoy being part of, then we will be very glad to have you around! :)

I'd like to open the discussion to the possibility of a transfer of content. I did this for Virtual Tourist and for Travelpod after that.

If you are interested in having your content moved across (as best I can), then please let me know in this thread. This will not only give me an idea of how many people will benefit from it, but it will also act as a way of notifying you when the import script is done.

Time is pretty limited to get this import up and running. I hope I can manage it but I can't guarantee anything.

Also, regardless of the status of an import, it would be prudent to use the backup/download option provided by TB.

Hi Peter,

Finally, after almost 4 years of being on this site (Travellerspoint), I finally have a welcome from no less than the administrator. That is indeed great, thank you for reaching out to our group. All of a sudden I have gotten more friends in less than a week than I have aspired since May 2014. I do hope this site will provide the community spirit that TravBuddy is known for.

You will notice that one of the great things that made the TravBuddy community the most welcoming travel site is the welcome itself by fellow group members. Every day (or as often as we have time), we would reach out and welcome newcomers, knowing very well that even if one out of a hundred responds favorably, we would have gained potentially a lot more new travel friends. Some of the most prolific welcomers of TravBuddy I now see on this site, which is a good sign.

I am likewise interested in posting content from TravBuddy which I have downloaded, and of course update the formats accordingly. Looking forward to seeing that in the coming weeks.

Again, thank you for the belated welcome. Always better late than never.

Here is the link of the original introduction I posted last May 1, 2014 https://www.travellerspoint.com/forum.cfm?thread=100883

Thank you for the welcome to Travellerspoint, Peter! Like others, I've been a member of TravBuddy for some time (as Andy99). I'm now setting up here on Travellerspoint, initially creating travel maps and uploading sample photos before I look at the blogging aspect. The site looks very promising. My screen name here reflects the fact that while I live in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area and my current travels originate from there, my early travels originated from Los Angeles (LA). (I try to get back there as I can, too.) I will plan to make a backup copy of my travel blog content from TravBuddy.
