Thanks a lot, Peter for your help! ?

It is great that we can all be back together again on this platform!

Hi Wanda / mellemel and any other TB members logging on now - I'm afraid it's too late to crawl Travbuddy now because there's nothing there to crawl. :(

For some of the members who were on spocklogic's list on the thread that was on TB - you can try looking at the crawl page. I did crawl most of those users as well and it's possible that your content is included.

Give me a week or two and I'll get the next step of the import completed - the bit where you can actually see the content live here on Travellerspoint again

I was just wondering about the next step, worried I might have missed something
Patience is not my strong point :) but of course we'll give you time to get the next step completed!

@TB-ers that were too late, hope you did get everything off TB you wanted to safe (downloads, screenshots)
I forgot to take a screenshot of my profile page but Brian knew a way to fix that so all is not lost, again thanks for that Brian!

What would we do without people like Peter and Brian :):):):)

Thank you, Peter, for all your hard work in getting things transferred over from TB!

Too bad I found out about this site only now. It will be one heck of a task to get everything transferred onto here. Let's home TB's zip did safe all my content.

Is it possible to reinstate the files from the zip somehow to this site? I know I missed the window :(

Not at the moment. I think this might be too much extra effort to make possible to be honest. If there's a lot of demand for this, though then I might consider it.

I like the Travellerspoint photo gallery, blogging capability and especially the comprehensive travel map. Blogging is quite different and in freer form than it was on TravBuddy. It does not have to be based on a trip = a blog, though it can be. The travel map and travel blogs are separate entities, which is very nice. While I backed up my TravBuddy blog and review content, I am not going to replicate my TB content on Travellerspoint exactly as it was. Instead, I'm going to rethink the blogging process and present past material I have written in a different way. I've already started drafts, but the biggest obstacle to publication are the photos and their presentation. It may take some time, but I'm in no hurry.

I felt exactly the same when I migrated from Virtual Tourist. I joined TravBuddy to keep in touch with friends who'd also joined but although I shared some blogs there, and reviews, I found the flexibility here more appealing. I'm very slowly reworking some old VT material to fit better here while also enjoying blogging about current trips in a much more free-flowing way than I could on either VT or TB. The particular advantages over TB, as I see them having run parallel blogs for a year, is that here:
1. You can arrange photos to fall exactly at the point in the text where you want them, with several of the same subject
2. I can show off my best photos in large format while keeping others smaller
3. You don't have to 'pretend' that a photo was of a place other than where you took it in order to force it into a blog entry - here, if I want to put a photo of NYC into a blog entry about Shanghai I can (I have no idea why I would want to do that, but that's not the point)
4. I can write several entries about the same place on the same day without confusing the system

I haven't started with blogging my new trips on here, but these are most of the things I bumped into on TB. Number 1 is one of my biggest annoyances, sometimes even keeping rewriting to try to match the text with the photos, instead of the other way...

Here you don't have to do that. Just place the cursor where you want the photo, insert it and carry on writing below. Or even besides - it's up to you how you arrange things :)
