I tried twice importing one of my blogs but each time got an error. Did I do something wrong?

Sorry about this. There was indeed an error stopping imports from getting started. I've just fixed this up and it should work again now. Let me know if not!

I've updated the import page so you should be able to import more blogs that you haven't already Stefmuts.

Thank you, Peter! It seems to work.

So now I'm worried again, One blog is imported (as I meant it to be) and I can work with that one, so thats fine
But how about the rest of them? The page still says - Your import is under way-Tasks in the queue-
Completed: 255. Its like that for a week now
I was expecting to get the list of blogs again and select the import for the next blog (or rather the rest of it in one Blog seperate from the one I alreaduy did)
Did I make a mistake , or do I have to be patient still?

Well, I hadn't really made it for multiple uses. So it's done what you requested and considered it completed :) I'll look at it today or tomorrow and tweak it to allow a second go at the import.

Ok so my bad!

Thanks so much!
It's running again, all the rest this time, not gonna make that mistake again ...

Hi Peter,

Well it's nice to hear that this can be done however there is no mention or link to actually do it !!!

Whilst the photos and videos pages have upload links there is no metion of importing or of TravBuddy Are you keeping this information on a secret website ??

There IS a link for the final import on your blog but this is to use AFTER the information to import the blog(s) has been entered. The question on everyones' mind is - HOW and WHERE do you START the process and enter the import information ?

A link to your import script would be appreciated.

Thanks
David

Didn't you save your blogs in time? TravBuddy does not exist any more. The import was possible while the site was still online. But since it has been closed down for good, there has been nowhere to import from.

Sorry not to have better news!

Yeah, that's because there is no way to scrape Travbuddy any more. My crawler would hit the same problems you hit when you try to visit the site. There's just nothing to crawl. Have a read through this thread - there's some suggestions on looking at archive.org. That's really the only place to get the content from at this stage. But it's not something I'm prepared to try and write a crawler for.

Okidoki ~ Thank you

I have all the info somewhere........

"The Wayback Machine" on archive.org is very good and now does snapshots regularly whereas they were very few in the 90's.

If TravBuddy still have data on their hosting it may be possible to copy it with HTTrack (a special webcrawler program) but profiles should be encrypted....

I should also have said that archive.org's snapshots don't go very deep anyway.

If they do have it on a server, it's certainly not public. No matter how fancy the crawler, it won't be able to access it if it's not public. When they were shutting down they did specifically say that they were deleting everything on the shutdown date so I actually doubt that they've kept any of it anywhere.
