Hello Wildlife Enthusiasts,

I am planning to visit the Ranthambore National Park in the month of August and want to do one or two wildlife safari in the park. When I googled to plan my trip I found that many websites citing that the Ranthambore National Park remains closed from 1st of July to 30th of September during the monsoon season for any tourism activity. However, few of the articles that I found during my research -snip- says that the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve remains partially open in the above said period during monsoon and forest safari has been organized in few of the zones. It says that this facility has been started by the Ranthambore forest department from the last year.

Does anyone have the correct information whether the park is open in August or not? Is the above-mentioned article (link is given above) true? if I visit the Ranthambore in August, will I get the safari?

Any authentic information on this query will be appreciable.

Thank You!

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]

The Ranthambore National Park used to remain closed completely during the monsoon season from 1st of July to 30th of September every year till 2016, but the Rajasthan government decided to keep the park partially open for the tourist in the monsoon season since 2017. So, the few zones of the park remain open during the months of July to September. The 5 ecotourism zones, from zone 6 to zone 10, have been kept open for the wildlife safari in 2017 and will remain open in 2018 as well. If you want to visit the Ranthambore National Park in July/August then you only have the option to visit the zones 6 to 10 for the safari as zones 1 to 5 remain closed during this time. Though all the zones have the abundance of its distinct flora and fauna which can be explored during your safari, the chance of the tiger sighting is a bit low in these zones than the zones 1-5. However, the tiger sighting is more of the matter of luck in any zone so if you would be lucky you can get the sighting in zones 6-10 as well.
