I’m heading to Oz this year on a working holiday visa - solo.

As I turn 31 in December I really need to get my regional work out of the way asap to get my second year visa.

I’m really not keen on the idea of doing the regional work but everyone keeps telling me that a year will fly by and I will regret not doing it - what do you think?

And is anyone else around in July and thinking of doing their regional work and be fancies buddying up?

Part of me want to just head out for a year in September and sack off the fruit picking...

Have you already done New Zealand? If not, I'd recommend a year of Australia and a year of New Zealand. It's still two years, but you won't need to do any fruit picking to get that second WHV. :)

(Despite New Zealand being an order of magnitude "smaller", its sights are much more densely packed, and has enough variety in them to keep you fully entertained for more than a year. And if by any chance you discover there was something about Australia that you liked significantly better, then it's close by enough that you can just take a flight back and spend a couple of additional months there with the money you earned in New Zealand.) :)
