Hello everyone! :) This might look like a rookie question but some help would be appreciated. I am currently in Japan and I want to visit Canada. So, I will be applying for Canadian VISA on my Indian Passport from Japan. However, I have some plans to visit India first and then go to Canada from there. So, will this be okay? Or will there be complications since I got my VISA from Canadian consulate in Japan?

Hello,

I would double check the Canadian embassy (either call them or check their webpage). Some times they require you to apply in your home country. Some times they require itinerary, if it shows you are flying from India to Canada and you are Indian, they may require you to apply in India. Another consideration is while applying for VISA you will be without passport while they are processing. Also not sure how they do it in Japan, but in the US you mail your docs in and they mail it back, so may need a return address to get your passport and visa back.

If they give you a visa from Japan, then flying from India to Canada shouldn't be an issue. However as in ALL cases it's up to the custom official at the point of entry to decide whether to let you in or not.

Again check with the embassy, give them call or check their webpage.

Why not just get the visa in India if you have the time.
