I have dreamed of going on journeys for a long time but never gone for a long time. But from last year i began going on journey's SOLO. I like to go on two wheels but with my bags it gets difficult to move places with my carry on. SO i would love to hear from you guys which bags do you use when you travel in bikes ?

Hi Jeniffer1389. Welcome to TP. If you are interested in traveling on your bicycle, check member Ant1606 Ant1606 TravellersPoint blog site

He and his wife travel all over the place on bicycles so I'm sure they could help you with how to pack. There is a big green Message button under his photo and you can private-message him with specific questions.

You can also start a bicycle touring group here on TP to meet and communicate with other bike travelers. One thing I can imagine is that a carry-on is probably not going to work on a bike. I use a backpack for my carry-on and that might be necessary if you're traveling by bicycle.

Good luck and again, welcome.

You wouldn't want a big backpack on a bike. That would throw out your center of gravity. You need panniers. See for example what the bikes look like on this blog entry

I'd suggest just packing them all up onto your bike at home so you know it's the right amount of stuff that you can carry. Then to take them on the plane, you could bundle them into some sort of disposable duffel bag (or a bag that packs down really small) so their shape isn't as awkward. It's worth having a small backpack with you I think as well on a trip like that. So you could fill that up with carry-on items and check in your panniers with the rest of the stuff.

Some people also take bicycle carts behind them which they load up with stuff. But that might be something you buy in destination and then sell again at the end of a trip. I can't imagine it being worth shipping that over.
