Hello. I'm travelling to China for a few months or maybe even more and I've heard about the Great Firewall of China. I need to access Facebook and a few different sites for work purposes so I think that I need a VPN. And there are so many! -snip- So anyway, what are your thoughts? Do you use anything? :)

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]

You're probably wiser to check the specialist websites/forums like techradar.com/news/best-vpn-for-china-our-5-top-choices .
There are options but I believe every one of them is a gamble because china could change their systems at any moment.
Good luck.

I've used VyperVPN while in China but can't say it's 100% reliable. I have another VPN (Disconnect) which was pretty much useless in China.

Now I am using ExpressVPN but back then, found out that somehow the Great Wall (internet) already manages to censor this or prevent it from working as good as it should. No idea how true that is since I haven't been back to China since October 2017.

2 years ago when in China, I switched my tablet devise to receive baidu, which is one of the main search engines for the country. Facebook was out, but I was able to access my web based e mail without any issues. I'd preloaded Skype for phone calls and that seemed to work OK depending on my location. I'd use the free wifi in hotels to access internet. You may have to set up your devise before getting to China for better results - good luck

Many VPNs are blocked in China and very few VPNs are working reliable in China as many of them are no longer focusing on China market due to constant issues China firewall brings to the VPN providers in China. VyprVPN and SwitchVPN are both good choices for VPN , i suggest asking for a free trial on Live chat to the VPN provider you are testing as most of them do offer money back guarantee but its better to try it first to avoid hassle for requesting money back.
