Hello everyone.
I am planning a trip to the Amazon rainforrest with some of my friends for a couple of weeks.
So I wondered if it was possible to rent firearms for selfdefence, because you could run into some dangerous animals out there.

To quote John McEnroe, "You can't be serious?!".

Are you planning on traveling alone in a canoe??

Many animals in the Amazon are critically endangered. I don’t know how the law stands but killing an endangered predator because you invaded their territory without proper preparation or local knowledge would be completely immoral. Take a guide who knows what they are doing- you’ll see more that way anyway.

Hii Dear,
I think you should hire the guide because guides knows every things if you are in problem he will know how to tackle the situation.Enjoy your trip.

btw firearms won't do much to mosquitos, the greatest danger of them all
or spiders, or fire ants, poisonous frogs (tip: don't lick any frog! ;)), ...
Just follow the others advice: hire a guide!

If you are going with a couple of your friends, you should be able to split the cost of a guide. You'd be crazy to go into the Amazon without a guide unless you know what you are doing and your question clearly indicates that you do not. Split the cost and enjoy the trip.

It'd be way better if you guys would bring a guide rather than renting firearms or etc.. As being said by Sarahelainecp, it'd be really immoral if you kill endangered animals there.
