Hi folks!

It has been a while since my last travel. The past 3 months I have been given priority to my daugther Zula so I was able to spend some unforgettable time with her. She is beautiful and sweet. Right now I am ready for new adventures, so I will be grateful if anyone can recommend me your favorite country in Latin America and give me some tips to organize my schedule for the upcoming months.

... I will wait for your suggestions to make a plan for my next travel agenda.

My favorite country in Latin America that I have visited is Costa Rica. But I also liked Belize, Ecuador and Peru. But I haven't visited (and would like to), Brazil, Chile or Argentina

I've been to every country in Latin America except Paraguay and French Guiana. (balk at that one if you must) Hands down, my favourite is Colombia. Inexpensive, friendly, and with diverse regions. There are ten times more travellers there now than when I lived there, but a great country to visit.

Hey there!

Sorry I haven’t posted in so long my fellow travelers, I have been extremely busy and have had some phone problems since returning from my last trip.

If you are looking to travel in Latin America, I would recommend Mexico or... maybe Uruguay. Montevideo is a great city and it’s so close to Buenos Aires that you can get the best of both worlds.

I went to Colombia recently but I didn’t fall in love with every city I visited. So it could also be a great option but I would say choose your cities wisely. However... Bocagrande Beach was a pretty good time if you are considering Cartagena.

I am currently in a bit of a travel dilemma myself... I already have a ticket to Montevideo for August, but I am considering remaining in my own country and pursuing work options here... I have recently made a contact that could really help me get an opportunity exactly where I need to be. I haven’t decided yet but... I will let you know as soon as I decide. That way I can get great recommendations from this awesome travel community!

Hope you can figure out your schedule! I would recommend Mexico, Uruguay or Colombia. Peru Is awesome too.

Happy Trails

My personal favourites of those I've visited (Guatemala, Belize, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, Chile) have been Chile (for the landscapes), Ecuador (for the colonial cities and mountains) and Guatemala (for the variety, ancient ruins and people). But to be honest I've loved them all!

Hi folks!
Thank you for all the comments. I really appreciate your suggestions. I have to say that I love Dominican Republic and Mexico as well, but I have already been there and right now I am looking for something different. I have been searching for information about all the options that I have and I finally decided... to go to Uruguay! I heard Montevideo is truly awesome in august and I want to be able to continue gathering marvelous memories through all Latin America.
Right now I am trying to finish my itinerary and I need some advices about things to do in Montevideo. I am sure that I am going to be at least one week there. I know it is not enough time to get involved into the cultural life there but...it is better enjoying it for a short time than not going at all. I think we all need some vacations before returning to work.
I have to confess that... I don’t get my flight date yet but i really need to decide soon, so I will wait for your recommendations about things to do in Montevideo in order to figure out my schedule and buy the tickets. I will appreciate any comments.

I already have my flight ticket and I am so excited about this journey. I am going to be in Montevideo since august 23rd to 28th and I will do my best to make a good use of it.

Some friends recommend me to visit Solis Theatre, Jose Enrique Rodo Park and the Independence Square, what I will certainly do. However I will spend most of the time trying to mix with local citizen and learn more about their history, folklore and cuisine. I want to see the “Rambla”, enjoy a walk through the old city, trying to dance or see a good tango, and taste a traditional mate.

I am still figuring out how to organize my schedule for the upcomings days but now the only thing that I know for sure is that ... I will be tasting a traditional cuisine with my friend Ximena on August 24th in an especial restaurant. We have a reservation at 2 PM. I am also going to be around that restaurant the next day, because they will be celebrating the Independence Day. I just have to wait for her confirmation.

Through this threat I will be updating you with every experience that I get there, also when I get there ... I will write to my daughter Zula through temail as we did last time. I hope she write me back. I miss her already.
Wish me good luck,

JW.

Why not start a blog here so you can write about your experiences? You will be able to include photos there, which you can't do in a forum discussion, and you should reach a wider audience. Your daughter and other family and friends can subscribe and follow your travels :)
