Hi,

I am looking for anyone who wants to go traveling all over Japan for a year. Young male from south of England, just looking preferably for someone with experience in backpacking as this would be my first time. Wouldn't be looking to go for another year or so but I want to get prepared and get ready to save up as much as I need to. Any help with finding someone is greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Callum.

Do some research on a visa that allows you to stay that long.

If you’re under 30 and have UK nationality, you can apply for WHV so that you can stay here for a year and can work for a bit (though you may have a hard time finding a job without being able to speak Japanese. Factories may have non-Japanese speaking jobs though.

Don’ t worry too much about finding someone to hang out. You can always connect someone on meetup.com or some international groups such as Tokyo Gaijins, Japanize! etc. They host some weekend excursions and parties. If you’re into photography, instameet is also a good event to meet people.

Just so you know there are cheaper countries in Asia to visit and live in. Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia can be cheaper. But if Japan is what you want go for it!

While you are home take some lessons in Japanese.

Definitely, I've been studying now for a few months and I won't be going untill around 2020 so I wanted to make sure I had a head start!
