Dear fellow travellers,

Myself and my boyfriend are looking to travel from Nepal to Vietnam. Personally I think that 2 months isn't long enough for this journey, however my boyfriends thinks differently. Without even attempting to ask about what to do between A to B does anybody know of the best mode of transportation from A to B. Any body out there thinking of doing the same?.

The easiest way is to fly.
Going overland can be a problem at the India - Myanmar border and independent travel across Myanmar. The area travel situation continuously changes and you could have everything go well but that border is often closed due to the Rohingya issues in Myanmar.
Also the Myanmar Government changes it's rules about travel in their country regularly, depending on the civil unrest in various areas there...
The Thai-Myanmar border seems to be much more reliable and easier to travel in that area.

So where you fly from and too is your choice.
Delhi to Bangkok is probably the best option (but Delhi to Yangon may be an option, or even Kolkata - Yangon or BKK), and then you can use buses to travel east from there.

But without knowing when you'll be travelling, this could all change in the next month...

As for doing it in 2 months, you'll miss out on lots of interesting places but it would be easy in 2 months if you fly the routes mentioned above.
If you want to do it overland then it could be possible (very rushed though) or it could be impossible if the border is closed for a few months...

It would be better if you'll plan first the activities that you'll be doing and the estimated time that'll require for that. Basically, It's just all about time management.

Flight is the best way (Save time).
A 2 or 3 week travel in Vietnam is ok.

Hi Kitty,

I don't know whether you flight to Hanoi or Ho Chi MInh City, but I want to give you some tips in case you need.
1. Hanoi (Noi Bai Airport):
- How to go from Noi Bai Airport to Hanoi city center:
+ If you get off the plane from 5:00 to 21:00, you can get on buses heading to city center.
There are bus 86 (stop right in Hoan Kiem lake - highly recommended), bus 17 (get off at Long Bien bus station - 1km from Old Quarter), bus 07 and bus 90 as well but a little further from Old Quarter. There are also airport bus NB02 (get off at Tran Quang Khai street then walk to Hoan Kiem lake) but you may wait for more than an hour until the bus starts moving.
+ if you come to Hanoi in late night, we may want to use transport app named Grab (similar to Uber). It's cheaper than taxi.
+ Or going by taxi for convenient :)

2. Ho Chi MInh City (Tan Son Nhat airport)
+ From 5:30 to 1:30 the next day, you can catch on bus 109 and bus 49, get off at Ben Thanh Market and welcome to the biggest, most crowded place in Vietnam (I'm not sure but I think so )
+ Or call Grab or taxi if you want
