I’m looking to travel to New Zealand next year in March, and do a whv for at least one year potentially two, depending how I get on. I was planing on starting off in the South Island in queens town work around there try and get a job before the winter season of skiing etc starts, but I’m not sure how easy it is to get a job or whether it’s best to start in the north island, in Auckland? I want to work as much as possible before I fully explore both islands, so any help would be much appreciated! I did Australia about two years ago on a working holiday and loved it but I travelled more than I worked and ran out of money but saw everything but had to come home after 11 months as never did farm work and for other personal reasons, I just don’t want the same thing to happen in new Zealand. So I want o fully research before I go of where the best places to go and easiest places to find work. Thanks in advance :) :)

That sounds like a good plan to me. Queenstown is a bit Marmite - some people love it, others find it brash and commercial. Personally I love the setting - the lake and the Remarkables. There seem to be lots of casual jobs available, working in sales or admin for adventure sports companies, in addtion to the hostel and catering jobs that you find elsewhere.
