There is no public parking nearby - crowded streets. It's hard to find the place - local Frenchmen tried to help us without success
We arrived at the site after many searches, at 21:30 instead of 21:00 and no one was there. We tried to call - we received a voice response. Probably because it was paid in full - I am sure that if not - they would behave differently.
Local people left two voice messages but wasn't response ... We stayed with a child on the street at night.
The owner of the place is charged with sending us an email with an explanation - a nice attempt because no mail was received.
I am ashamed that there are people in France like the owner of the place. I am glad that in France there are people who tried to help us to contact him, without success.
There are all kinds of people in the world .......
The money we paid was a contribution to him. Let him be well if he needed it

In fairness to the owner, I'll point out that they don't accept children and you say you had a child. They close check-in at 21:00 and you were late. There is a map included on their web site that coordinates with Google Maps and there is a photo of the outside to help you with Google street view.

All of the reviews, and there were many, were very good. It is a wonderful location and while I haven't been there, I will suggest the next time you rent a B&B or a gite that you research the location very carefully as they are often more difficult to find than hotels. You should also request the owner's mobile number so you can phone if you get lost.

Staying on the street was your choice; there are plenty of hotels in Le Puy. If you want a place that is easy to find, a hotel is also a good choice because they are often centrally located and have lots of signage. Many offer a B&B arrangement and are very inexpensive. Just a thought for your future travels.

I agree with Beausoleil. You could have contacted with the B&B before 9:00 to ask the location and to tell them that you may be late. They might have been able to wait for you. You might have been taken as "No-show" guest as you didn't arrive before they close check-in without letting them know. I have been late for the check-in time I have announced upon reservation but I never had any problems as I always give them a call to let them know that I may be late and apologize for delay.

And yes, I strongly recommend you to check the hotel policy about kids. I always check that part very carefully when I go on travel with my child. Each accommodation has its own policy and guests are required to follow.

First of all read well what is written - it is not written I was late but searched for a place.
Second - during the order details and age of the child were recorded. Not only an order was received but also a got a prepayment. What do you say about the politics of the hotel? At any cost to get paid?
Very good politics.
Very good person.
As for the rest of the reviews - everyone has his own opinion

Uhm? But ok, a negative experience, most places on tripadvisor and elsewhere have those. Usually coincidence if in general the place is rated with 8 or more.
And good to share, but my experience in general is that negatieve expacts are for a great deal caused by miscommunication, high expectations (some people complain about everything) and more of that.

There are always two side on each story, so wonder what the owner has to say, especially about children and whether or not things were mentioned in the right way.

Last but not least: I never get it when people join websites or a forum just to leave this negative stuff behind all over the internet. It's to warn people they say, but it sounds more like a rage to me.

Utrecht,

A google Russian translation yields:

"You will not believe but I am with you - anger led me here. And about the expectations of an object rated at 8 points you are absolutely right. Anger and desire to warn those who followed me brought me here - not all the gold that glitters.
The last thing I can add on the topic is whether the owner is right, probably yes. Whether he is a good person — certainly not.
A positive feedback I left more - although not on this site. And here I am with your permission"

IMO It's all starting to get a bit pointless!

All I was trying to say is that a B&B is not a hotel and you shouldn't expect it to function like one. You really need to do extra research before you book. A look at Google Maps would show you where parking is located and how to find the house. These people often have jobs and can only be there at certain times for check-in so if there is any chance you may be late, you need to contact them early. All this takes more time than booking a hotel, but it also means you will not have a negative experience like you seem to have had. You do more work and you pay less money. It's a trade-off.

They did have a photo of the place on their website so with Google Maps, it should have been easy enough to find.

And yes, I did read your entire question. You just didn't like the answer. There are two sides to every story and I thought the owner deserved having his side told. The other reviews were all excellent.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but next time you know a few more things you can do to make it better. That's what the forums are about . . . making travel easier.
