Hi all. I will be visiting Budapest in mid January. I have read that museums and most attractions are closed on a Monday so I would like to know thoughts and opinions on how I can plan my Monday at Budapest which will also happen to be my birthday that day, so looking for something celebratory, cultural and adventurous. Thanks!

Hi!
I would recommend to visit Buda Castle, its nice place to visit even if the inside of the castle is closed :)
I also liked Elisabeths tower, i thinks its always open but it would be wise to check that before going, its not so near of the towntown. Its located in the hills and you have really great view all around when you get on top of the tower :)
I hope you enjoy your visit in Hungary! :)

How about a free walking tour? If it's early in your trip these are great for orientation, and you pay only what you feel it's worth in a tip.

I think there could be a number of them in Budapest but I've done this one: http://www.triptobudapest.hu/tours/the-original-tour/

How about spending the day in one of the fabulous medicinal spa baths, there are a lot to choose from Gellert Baths, Szechenyi Baths or Rudas Baths and many more .
