Hello,
I was wondering whether you could let me know what some of the objects are that you think are important to remember when traveling to the city (things you might take with you)

Thank you!!

From "some place" to any city in the world?

Definitely a wallet with cash and credit cards!

A penguin. Always travel with a penguin - very useful in the city.

I prefer a wombat. Essential for any travel.

Money, cards and personal ID in wallet. Camera. Map of the city and (if unknown city) a sheet of paper with information I might need, like opening hours of museums, churches etc., public transport connections and so on. Water bottle and perhaps a few snacks. Empty linen shopping bag, just in case. Small folding umbrella if the weather is insecure.

A small handbag would be enough for these, but because of the wombat I have to take a slightly larger bag or small backpack.

Need a definition for 'The City'.
If you're talking about somewhere like Kuala Lumpur which is generally very hot, then I'd suggest a water bottle, something to cover your shoulders/legs/head (in case you need to 'cover up' to enter some places), and a thin jacket (for the ultra air conditioned mono-rail/shopping malls etc).
It may be a rather different list for somewhere like London or Helsinki...

Obviously money/ID etc is an automatic 'need'.

I try to travel without any small animals, including children.

My preference is a camel - never go to the city without your camel!

Frankly an idiotic decision, Andrew. Animals are an important and necessary item on anyone's packing list. Now, some folks on this thread have suggested wombats, camels, penguins - let me tell you: you're all wrong. There is exactly one correct answer for what animal to take with you for a day out in the city, and that's the Southern White Rhinoceros. Let's go over the reasons:

•Horns for dealing with crowds, traffic, etc - they'll either scatter or be flattened, either way, problem solved.
•Aggressive and loyal - anybody will think twice before mugging you with your trusty Rhino by your side
•They're awesome - i mean look at them
•Carrying capacity - they can carry your bags, or they can carry you
•Did I mention they're awesome
•Great companion - a little known fact is rhinoceri actually have a profound appreciation for foreign culture, making them the ultimate partner to share your experiences with
•Cute and cuddly
•Chick magnet

So yes, a camel might be an alright animal to take to the city - but the Southern White Rhinoceros wins, hands down.

Quoting AndyF

Somebody else here pointed out that a couple of years ago - I just stuff my camel in my backpack - haven't been caught yet!

I think a chicken can be very helpful. Every day a fresh egg!
