Barcelona is fantastic! I just returned last week, after spending 10 days there. There is plenty to do - it's a HUGE city. Something I'd highly recommend is doing the Open Top Hop on Hop Off Tourist Bus in your first day or so - it takes you all around the city, past all the major sights & you can get on and off wherever and as often as you like. It's the best way to orientate yourself.

Make sure you go into Gaudi's Casa Bastillo on Psg de Gracia (about 8 Euro entry fee & also to Guell Park - it's awesome & free!

The beaches are ok, especially down near Port Olympic but make an effort to take the train to SITGES - a beautiful spanish/moorish just half hour south of Barcelona. The return journey only costs about 4 Euro & it's so worth it.

A great place to stay & very cheap too, is the Hostal Rembrandt just off Las Ramblas on Portaferrissa 23. Tel: 93 318 10 11 or email: - Single rooms from 27 Euro & Doubles/Twins from 45 Euro. Great location, clean, friendly & excellent value.

Great place to have tapas & sangria or a local beer is Bar del Pi in Placa del Pi - very close to the Hostal. This place makes you feel less conspicuous if you're on your own too.

I did have some hassles with Moroccan & Algerian men in Barcelona,as I was travelling on my own. They're very charming & very friendly, wary of the charm.

Enjoy and take care.
