Hi! I am absolutely new here, so please forgive me that I can't find the "search the forum" button. When logging a trip on the map, what transportation mode do you use, car or walking? I've got a lot of both car and hitchhiking trips in my history of travel, and am tempted to choose walking for logging the hitchhiking trips on the map in order to differentiate them driving my own car. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

It is totally up to you what you want to use as the method of transport. So feel free to make the hitchhiking parts walking if you want.

If you click car it shows you then drive, curved, or straight line, with foot its road, curved, or straight line (in out of the way placees its only curved, or straight line), the difference might be use of motorway or regular road or maybe hiking paths (thats a guess only, you have to find out)-

At the top left of your screen is the word MENU. To the left of MENU are three horizontal bars. Click on the bars and the first thing you will see is a SEARCH window. Feel free to enjoy it.

When we drive, I use the car button; when we walk, I use the walking man button. You can use either or both. However, if my trips were divided between hiking trips and auto trips, I would seriously consider separating them into separate blogs. You can do whatever seems logical to you.

That makes some sense, thanks.

That's exciting. I don't often make sense . . .

BTW, I see you've been to 47 USA states. What 3 are missing? We've been to all except Hawaii . . . and I'm not even sure I spelled it correctly. ;)

The 3 I'm missing are Idaho, North Dakota and Oregon. You did spell Hawaii correctly

Wow, you've missed three gorgeous states. If you ever get the chance, Bismarck, ND is a great place to spend the Fourth of July. They have celebrations up and down the river and you can see all the fireworks from a bluff outside of town.

I planned to go to Oregon in 1965 and my husband bought a car and instead of going to Oregon he spent his vacation taking it down to the frame and building it back up. And I almost managed to get there when I was sent to Seattle for training in 1994, but I didn't have a car and couldn't figure out how to get there without one.

But I have no hope of going out west now - Bob doesn't like leaving home and he doesn't like to fly. So unless someone else is going that I could go with, I probably won't get there now. (I'm not going to hitchhike ;))

I've missed Hawaii, Alaska and South Dakota. I intend to go to all of them someday!
