Travel Forums System Talk Posts removal

So I try to help other travellers and I might put down an occational link to a site as Eurostar if the question is about travel options and I would suggest train
Most times it's no problem but now and then some moderator feels the urge to remove my post for that (must be that since I don't offend anyone or promote a travel agency or something like that) If on the other hand I ask posters if they tried google they react offended so what am I to do ?!?!?
I get a bit tired of these kind of actions, I'm not a fist time poster, don't have an empty profile page, don't promote a business .. so why?

Hi Stefanie. I sympathise. Fortunately for me this one wasn't my doing, but there are certainly times I get it wrong as a moderator - dealing with an ongoing bombardment of spam can lead to being a little too trigger happy.

Certainly for me, the first thing I look at is who is doing the posting - if it's an established member like yourself then the assumption is it's okay. Even so I sometimes hit the wrong button.

Sorry to hear it went wrong this time - and please be assured your contribution is valued by the other regulars (of whom the Mods are a part, we just do some janitor duty too).

Is it possible that the entire thread in which you posted was removed? For an established member like yourself, I'd find it extremely unusual for your entire post to be removed for having included a link; at most, if a moderator seemed to detect a pattern of links (like say if you linked to eurostar half a dozen times), I'd expect those links to be snipped from the rest of the post. (And yes, big established businesses still far too often employ shady spammers out of a misguided sense of needing to work on 'SEO', so that is a mistake which could honestly be made.)

If the threads themselves are still there, so my first explanation doesn't hold up, you can see here who the responsible moderators for that forum are; other moderators then those that are listed don't have powers in that particular forum, so there'll be only one or two, which means you could try contacting them directly via PM.

Crikey! I flagged one post yesterday from a new member about the Balkans which had a link to the travel agency page from a new member and the whole thread vanished but I didn't delete it. I'm fairly confident that the link to the website should have been removed though.

I checked in the database which posts of yours have been deleted and the only one where it was directly removed was when cleaning up some posts in a thread where things were getting personal and a bunch of entries were removed as part of that.

If any other entries have gone, it will be as part of an entire thread being removed which means that the thread was started by a spammer. No reflection on your contributions at all - they have always been great!

Where I put my reply post is a deleted post so if that's not mine I really don't know what happened, I'm pretty sure it was showing after I posted it
And it did happen 2 times before

Can you PM me the exact thread so I can have a closer look ?

You have my commiserations, I suffered an identical fate when trying to post helpful information about Morocco, the reason why I rarely pop up here any more.
