How do I add/edit GPS coordinates of Map locations?

Travel Forums System Talk How do I add/edit GPS coordinates of Map locations?

Hello,

Ever since the change to the mapping system, I am unable to enter locations simply by typing the GPS coordinates. Is there a way to do this easily with the new system? I would like to preserve the accuracy of my stops and just typing the nearest city is not close enough.

Thanks for all you've done for the site so far. I have been an enthusiastic user for quite a few years now.

There isn't a way to type in the coordinates currently but you can drag the marker when first adding a stop. And you'll see the lat/lng value shown under the location name while doing that which should help in getting it as exact as possible.

Click on your map and find the red balloon that marks the location. Put your cursor on the red balloon and pull it to the exact spot on the map that you want to mark. You can see the coordinates change when you do this. I always try to get the marker exactly on the spot where I took the photo and it works very well.

You can pull the stick man (in satellite view) to the red balloon to make sure you have it in the correct spot. Sometimes you need to experiment a little to get it facing the right direction.

I'm pretty sure ginjaturtles is referring to the mapping of trips, not the mapping of photos.

That is correct Peter. I am referring to stops on a my trips on the map.

Now that I know I can drag the points around, I will be able to get close enough for my purposes. However, It is a bit less convenient than manual GPS entry (which is how I entered points on the old interface). Will you be bringing that functionality back?

Apologies. I'm always messing with photos and seldom do a map. Once the map is done; it's done. Putting in GPS points would be lovely though. It's much easier and very accurate.

Not sure. But yes, I guess there's a good chance it will come back at some point.
