On my way back from PLovdiv at the moment (at Sofia Airport). Restaurants are now booked, and deposits paid, for Friday: Hotel Leipzig; For Saturday: Smokini and for Sunday (a change from my original choice): Diana. In each case the menus have yet to be confirmed but we will be eating meze-style and so I don't need to get people to choose things in advance. I will be sorting out a city tour for the Saturday morning and a coach trip to Bachkovo Monastery next month (once I've recovered financially to pay deposits - HA!). I'll probably post each event separately here and on FB with full details but will use this forum for general updates.

Ooops, almost forgot. If you haven't booked your hotel yet here's a booking.com link that will give you £15 discount and I get the same :-)

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. - many users have booking.com referral codes and if we allow one we open the floodgates ]

Forgot to mention that you'll find the individual events posted here on Travellspoint on the Europe forums. If interested reply on the forums and I'll get back to you here or use the FB links, if you use FB, and message me through those.

Everything is now booked, deposits made and things confirmed by email. The planned events are:

Dinner #1 Friday 31st May Hotel Leipzig. Menu to be confirmed but it will be a Bulgarian-style meze with hot and cold dishes. Sit down 7.30. We have a private dining room on the 1st floor, next to the hotel bar, which can seat 50. Expected cost 30 leva per person. I will be on site from 5 pm to meet, greet and relieve you of your money.

Dinner #2 Saturday 1st June Restaurant Smokini. Once again menu to be confirmed but it will be a Bulgarian-style meze with hot and cold dishes. Sit down 7.30. We have exclusive use of the main restaurant and bar which can seat 50. Expected cost 55 leva per person.

Dinner #3 Sunday 2nd June Restaurant Diana 1. Once again menu to be confirmed but it will be a Bulgarian-style meze with hot and cold dishes. Sit down 7.30. This is a large "mehana" restaurant and we will have a section to ourselves, if we are lucky we might even get to eat in the garden. Note that there are several "Dianas" in the city. Ours is at the foot on Danov Hill, just off the main pedestrian street. Expected cost 25 leva per person.

City Walking Tour Saturday 1st June. We will meet in front of the Municipal Building on Stefan Stambalov Square at 10 am. We will be split into two groups, each with its own guide and the tour is expected to last about 2.5 to 3 hours finishing at the Ancient Theatre in the Old Town which will be an ideal place for a group photo. I have agreed a fixed price of 400 leva and so the more of us the cheaper it will be. This is run by the same group that do the free tour, but the free tours are not available for larger groups. Note that the cost does not include entrance charges.

Trip To Bachkovo Monastery Sunday 2nd June. We will meet at the bus stop in front of the Ramada Hotel, which is on the main road next to the Roman Forum, at 9 am. The trip includes a visit of Assen's Fortress and is expected to last about 4 hours in total. We will have two 18 seat minibuses (with an optional extra 8 seat bus or private car if needed). The cost, including tour guide, will be 640 Euros (about 1250 leva) and so once again the more the merrier.

I will also be posting the two events on FB but for non FB users who fancy joining us please comment here.
