Stacey, it might help to know what sorts of things you're interested in seeing/doing on holiday and how long your stay will be in NOLA? I peeked at your profile - wow, a PhD in translation! - and while you've listed hobbies, they don't necessarily apply to travel interests.

Your only other post listed some places you enjoyed eating/drinking in NYC. The good news? You will have NO issue finding excellent places to do BOTH in NOLA! It's a great place enjoy exploring regional Cajun and Creole cuisine.

While there are umpty day excursions one can do, I'll advise not shorting your time in the city itself if that time is somewhat short to begin with? It has an especially unique and interesting history to dive into, if history is your thing. Add the architecture and food and, well, there's enough there to keep you busy for awhile. I would definitely look into one of the better walking tours of one of the famous cemeteries (tours are now mandatory to access St Louis #1) and parts of the Quarter to get an overview of some of the city's past history and customs. You'll want to get a look about the Garden District as well.

The Big Easy is also a hot city for music so add THAT to the pile. :O)
I'm linking a website for Mardi Gras 2019 parades/events. Those stretch over the entire month of February and into March but not all will be in the Quarter, if that's where you'll be staying:
