OK - just to pacify any naysayers there might be, Skegness actually has a mildly interesting claim to fame. The first ever Butlin's Holiday Camp opened in Skegness in 1936 and it's still open. Not only that but Beatles' drummer Ringo Starr was performing at this very place in 1962 with his former band Rory Storm and the Hurricanes when he got a call to join the Beatles - and the rest is history!

I've only been there once but the weather was good at the time, so I had a very pleasant couple of days. Not an exotic, or even a particularly interesting break, but relaxing and enjoyable.
The UK has quite a few places like Skegness, which were the holiday resorts of the masses before foreign travel became affordable to us.
Other places include Caister, Great Yarmouth, Walton-on-the-naze and Frinton (amongst others along the east coast).
Check out the google images to see what they're like on a good day, but there aren't many good days in the UK and these places can be dire in poor weather.
