I will be staying on the south coast of Sri Lanka in the first week of January. I have the Open Water Diver and would like to go diving for a day. Which places can you recommend? I researched a bit online and heard about Unawatuna, Hikkaduwa and Mirissa. Any opinions on them?

Thank you in advance!

Barracuda Reef Hikkaduwa, Unawatuna, Mirissa, and Great Basses Reef Yala are all great spots for diving in Sri Lanka’s south coast. Unawatuna is world-renowned for its pristine beaches, and the coral reefs and underwater shipwrecks are a treat for divers. Hikkaduwa is famous for its reef and underwater marine life. Mirissa is just right for scuba diving, reef diving, night diving, open water diving, deep diving, and even snorkelling. Yala is unique; it is a national park that extends to the sea, and the reef here is ideal for diving.
