Travel Forums North America Visa waiver applications

Hi all. I was recently denied a us visa for a past conviction, and have been recommended to apply for a waiver. Having moved up the list, mine was one of the next to be processed but the processing, looking at the list, seems to have ground to a halt. Anyone know if this might now be as a result of Trumps government shutdown? It was looking likely we may have had a chance to fulfil our original holiday plans, but this looks less n less likely now. Any thoughts?

I think this is very probable, though it could simply be the result of the Christmas/NY period....or a combination of both. US government employees are certainly having major issues..many/most are not receiving any pay...and most government departments have had to curtail their activities. Even if an activity has not entirely ceased the shutdown is bound to adversely affect all elements of government bureaucracy. I don't know for certain whether all waivers are processed in the US itself but I suspect that is the case.

The best you can hope for is that the situation is resolved quickly enough for your waiver to be processed in time for your holiday. I can only offer my sympathies and wish you the best of luck.
