Thailand & Vietnam are fantastic destinations ,both very safe countries, relatively cheap destinations, great food, fantastic sights, cheap backpackers accomadition. With backpackers you will meet travellers, discuss placed to visit and often have abuddy for a few days to visit sights.

Do you research on internet or travel guide books from your local library.

Good Luck
Mike

Thailand. (Right now for a limited time, to Jan. 13, VOA fees have been waived.)

Thailand is popular. Easy country to travel in. Good long distance transportation. Good shopping. Good nightlife. Good food selections covering all specialties.

Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket are popular destinations. Return to Bangkok for flight back home. You fill in the blanks with what you want to do. Pattaya is close to Bangkok and is good for nightlife, but with a crappy beach for swimming.

Many tourists just book their own flights and book their own hotels. Thailand is easy to do on your own. Some beach areas better for certain months of the year than other beach areas.

Up to you.

What do you consider to be an 'Adventure Trip'?
I have friends that think holidaying without booking a 'package holiday' is an adventure trip...

Also do you have an unlimited budget and time allowance?

Travelfish is a good site for doing some research on which places appeal to you in each country.

Your budget would help narrow down the choices. If you want somewhere fairly cheap Indonesia would have a lot of the activities you are looking for. If you wanted to spend more money New Zealand would have a lot of hiking and mountain biking.

Suggest Borneo, commence in Kota Kinabalu on the coast, plenty of islands a short distance off shore. Also fantastic hikeing through jungle, Pori g Hot Springs, war memorial where the World War2 Death March finished. Also My Kinabalu nearby.
Then head to Sanderkan on the coast, plenty to see and do including the Orangutan park, etc etc
