Warning. Minibars in the room are not free. They are usually overpriced, which means horrendously costly. I recommend having a very careful look at the price list before you take anything out. This alone should keep you from using it.

Up until last week I'd agree entirely - but we're staying in a place in Khartoum, Sudan at the moment (the Acropole Hotel - the oldest hotel in Khartoum and also home to the Greek Consulate) that has a small mini-bar in each room which is actually free. Being Sudan, there is no alcohol, only bottles of water and soft drinks, but we have been told by the management to drink whatever is in there each day because it will always be refilled each day free of charge. Unbelievable but true! πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡©πŸ‡¬πŸ‡·

Many mini-bars have soda and water (which they will charge you for if you use them). I think the alcohol is a minor part of it.

And if you have no clean underwear, you can wear dirty or go commando
