Hi!
I am planning a road trip from Vancouver, BC to Peru. As I'm Polish, and never been out of Europe before, I have loads of questions. And that is why i opened this topic here, so maybe I'd find somebody that already did trip like this, or at least similiar.

First of all I need to know all about fees for crossing borders on a vehicle, I heard rumors I need to organise a temporary import papers, and pay a fee for it on every single border, but I'm not quite sure how truth it its.

Then, I'm looking for some mechanic specialist to help me indicate a right vehicle for this, for a reasonable price, and available to get it near Vancouver, or (if it's better) in Seattle - I could just hitchhike from Vancouver to Seattle as it's not that far.

Before I get my ticket to Vancouver, I need to know everything about my expenses, so there would be no "No money, I'm ******" situation.

I hope it's the right place to find what I'm looking for. Any further questions - I'd like to ask them to a right person, not in an open thread.

Cheers,

Michal

You will need to find a way to transport your vehicle beyond the Darien Gap.

Yeah, I already know Darien's Gap's case, but it's quite easy and obvious to sort out, still looking for someone that did this trip already

The members of the Facebook group I referred to will have answers to your questions. Many are experienced travelers in the places you want to go. Some currently are on the road, so you will get the latest scoop.

I don't know much on the fee side of things with border crossings, however, I live in Vancouver, and I would suggest you try to buy your vehicle in Seattle. Everything in this city is tremendously over-priced, and so I believe you will save a bit more money (and less hassle with the Canadian-American border) by hitching to Seattle and grabbing a vehicle there.

I would suggest you check Horizons Unlimited website as they are an overland adventure forum for Bikes and cars etc. and many of there members have done that journey.
