Fansipan near Sapa is a good option for you.

Alternatively, you can look for Tay Con Linh in Ha Giang. Ha Giang (go northeast from Sapa) is absolutely worth exploring, particularly on motorbikes.

In the Northern Vietnam, plenty of mountainous terrains offers impressive landscapes and challenging activities for you. The highest mount is Fan Si Pang. Besides, there are Bach Moc Luong Tu, Tay Con Linh, Ban Gioc Waterfall.
In the middle, enjoy hiking in Lang Biang mount.
In the South, Ta Nang - Phan Dung is a perfect choice.

It depends on your personal preferenses. If you want a challenge and relish in the undiscovered destinations so Pu Ta Leng is the mountain you’ve been looking for but if you want to conquer the highest mountain so you should choose Mount Fansipan.
