New Blog with Same Blog domain

Travel Forums System Talk New Blog with Same Blog domain

Hi Guys,

Apologies if this has been brought up before but...
I created my first travel blog under the Domain "Nomadic-Monkey"; this domain has a few entries on one adventure.

I now want to create a second travel blog under the same domain but it tells me that the URL for the domain is already in use (by my first blog).
Any advice on how this should be done? I do not want one blog for all my different trips and adventures.

Thanks in advance!
Nomadic Monkey

Domains are like phone numbers - they can only go to one place. So there is no way to have two separate blogs at the same spot.

If you want to start another blog and not keep all your adventures in one place, then you will need to pick a different subdomain. You can pick any subdomain you like so long as it isn't already taken.

Thanks!
I started using a numerical system.

I use the same first part to the domain (in my case toonsarah, in yours it could be Nomadic-Monkey) and add a further element depending on the subject of the blog. So in addition to 'toonsarah.travellerspoint.com' I have 'toonsarahnewcastle.travellerspoint.com', 'toonsarahphotos.travellerspoint.com', 'toonsarahVT.travellerspoint.com' (for trips transferred from the now defunct Virtual Tourist website) and so on.

Some people like to have just a single blog encompassing all their travels. That's useful if you have a lot of external subscribers (or plan to try to attract a lot!) as you will lose them each time you start a new blog. Others like to have a separate blog for every trip. I've tried to steer a middle ground, with one blog covering every trip abroad since joining TP, one for some old trips I wanted to feature here, and a scattering of others for things that didn't really fit either of the above. I'm still not sure if there might not be a better way! But there was talk while back (* looks enquiringly at Peter* ) of some major changes to this site so I've been holding back on reviewing my approach in case I might have to do so twice!!

Edited for typos

Heheheh Thanks Sarah,

I have done exactly that but using an incremental numeric system.

Will be adding more blogs soon!

I've done each trip as a separate domain (greatgrandmarXXX.com) but I will sometimes link them together or reuse parts as I refine what I'm writing.

For instance the first blog I did was a recreation of the VT travelogue on the summer of 2002 on a Narrowboat Holiday in England. Then later I did the first part of the trip (London before we rented the narrowboat) and added that to the beginning and then I did the spring of 2002 (Heart Attack at Shroud Cay), and linked it to the beginning of the Narrowboat Holiday. Then I diverted and did a couple of stand-alone blogs to specific places where I made multiple visits - so I did one for Bermuda and one for Barbados and one for Grenada etc. And I also recreated two very early trips - one in 1950 and one in 1964 to Europe.

Then when I did a trip through the Panama Canal in 2008, I took one of the parts of the the individual blog for Costa Rica which I had written up previously, and added that piece in to the 2008 trip
