Didsbury is OK. The part of D/bury near to Fallowfield is student land. the plus is good social life the bad is petty crime & robbery from student accommodation. Talking of which - never, ever use a cash machine near the university particularly on Oxford Road.

Stay away from Moss Side, Wythenshawe, and ( sorry guys) most of Salford. Manchester itself is brilliant lots of culture, nightlife, music scene and need I say the best football in the country!!!

Quoting Cloggie

I have lived in Manchester for half a year to study there, and I agree with Kevstump and Jenny12345 that Didsbury is one of the (few) nice neighbourhoods of Manchester. There are lots of shops and lots of places to go out to and there are few scallies around. The Beckhams used to live there until they moved to Spain. The only drawback is that it's a bit far off from the city centre (about 30 minutes by bus).

Thanks for the info about Manchester, do you have any ball park figure on how much the buses cost on a weekly basis?

Here are the current prices of day tickets.

Any bus day ticket( There are different bus companies -ie you can travel on any!)£3 (three pounds)but can't use B4 9.30am

Same ticket as above (use at any time) £3.30.

Both tickets valid till midnight.

Really this ticket enables you to travel anywhere in the Greater Manchester area. Nonetheless, when you are here check out the ticket that includes:
Any bus and any train
Any bus, train and also the metro
The metro is the Manchester tram service

Well i currently live in Didsbury, just around the corner from the so called 'hotspot' of Didsbury. It would be a great place to live in if your thing is loads of braindead blokes staggering about the place in their white or pink shirts and spikey hair or skinheads with a bottle of becks in their hand.
I've heard that there is a far nicer, more vibrant place to live just down the road called Chorlton - I have seen it for myself and it truly is the new eden - so beautiful and bohemic. Full of class and culture and the people, well lets just say they are the most amazingly brilliant people you can find anywhere on Gods green earth.
