So, for now what has been a few months I have been interested in travel in Afghanistan and I’ve done a bit of research on what it is like there. I’m young still and one day I want to travel there. I want to know how it is at the moment. I know it’s pretty dangerous and I know there’s is a lot of bad things going on there, but if there is anyone here that has been to Afghanistan, feedback would be much appreciated.

Blayze.

I haven't travelled there but between 2006 and 2017 (when I fully retired) I did a lot of business there and knew a few people that travelled there regularly and a few that lived there. They all used private security people and travelled in armoured vehicles because the place is very unsafe.
The Afghani people are generally very nice, open and helpful but there are a few which would be very happy to do you harm if you're a westerner.
It will be a few years before private people can safely travel there again. Hopefully in my lifetime...

At the moment I am only young and therefore can’t travel like I want to be able to, so when I am older hopefully Afghanistan will be a safer place to visit. I think going there with white skin might be a risk because as you said, as a westerner I would be a target. Thank you for your reply, I value your opinion

Hopefully the hundred+ (relatively) calm countries that are worth visiting will all remain good, so you will have lots of travel options available until travel there is viable.

I heard last year there was a tour company that stopped running tours to Afghanistan because they claim it has become too risky:(. Once upon a time Afghanistan was a hugely popular tourist destination especially for the alternative crowd, so the idea of it being a tourist destination is not that far fetched but obviously not in the near future. In the meantime you could look at travel in the other Stans, their culture and history has a many similarities to Afghanistan and since it was once part of the Persian Empire you might want to consider Iran for a visit, especially since it is stable at the moment;).

Thank you for your feedback, I know Afghanistan was a big tourist destination and then after the taliban took over it became less and less safe. I will take into account your opinion and still hope to travel there one day

Travelling is one thing that many people all over the world love to do. Louis Armstrong sang a song titled, “What a Wonderful World.” Although he is correct that this is an amazing world in which we live in, all parts of the globe are not necessarily safe to visit.

If you are really keen to travel or at least wanting to experience Afghan Hospitality, my advice would be to go to Khyber province of Pakistan and visit Darras.

Against the commonly held misconception, Darras specifically are very safe for any foreigner to travel since Pakhtoons living there interact in community settings and the Guest is always accepted and embraced by the whole community.
