Hello!

I’m new and wanted to introduce myself - my name is Kalissa and I live in upstate New York. I'm 26 and love to travel!

I've been to Costa Rica, the Bahamas, England, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and around the eastern US. There are tons of places left on my bucket list and I try to go somewhere new every year, even if it’s just a small trip.

This site looks like a great community and I look forward to reading more posts! :)

Hello Kalissa,

I still consider myself wicked new to Travellerspoint as well, although it's been about several months since I joined. You are right, this is indeed a great community, and we look forward to hearing more from you.

Have you any travel plans in the near future? If so, where?

Welcome to TP Kalissa. I hope you enjoy your time here. Many years ago we went to university in Rochester, NY and then after my husband's military service, we lived in Clyde, NY on the Erie Canal while he finished his MA. Have you ever heard of Clyde, NY? Is it still there?

Welcome Kalissa :)

Thank you!

I’m planning a trip to Florida in October and hopefully back to NYC for a visit sometime in the fall, but other than that nothing big is planned right now!

I live pretty close to the Vermont border so I’m not familiar with the Rochester area, but I have been to Lake Erie on a road trip to Ohio and it was beautiful :)

I'd love to suggest Portland, Maine to you for a quick trip if you haven't been yet. I lived there for about 15 years and Portland is one of the best little cities in New England. I will sing praises to that place all day!

Maine seems like it would be such a great place to visit in the summer, thank you for suggesting it! I will have to put it on my travel list for a weekend trip :) It's funny how you can go just a couple states over and everything is so different - even going to college in Vermont was a bit of a culture shock compared to NY!

I'll second the suggestion to visit Portland, Maine. It is a wonderful little city. While in the area, try to take a couple days for Acadia National Park. If you stay in Bar Harbor, you can walk to the park . . . and in the park. It is gorgeous and not crowded at all.

We used to go over to Vermont on long weekends. The entire state is beautiful but we particularly loved the northern part. You're in a great area for fairly short trips to stunning scenery.
