Hopper's website claims "Book at exactly the right time. Hopper predicts prices with 95% accuracy up to 1 year in advance. No ads, no spam, no stress — just accurate predictions and the easiest way to book and save."

I guess they must be getting their information from somewhere - maybe monitoring trends from previous years?

Intelligent guesswork, but nothing too much on a high accuracy rate as this just not possible.

Yes, probably. I am going to test it this time for my Philippines flight though; the price at the moment is higher than I'd expect anyway so I don't think I'm missing out by not booking yet. I'll see how accurate their price prediction is.

I got the Hopper app a year ago, used it for a while and discovered it was basically useless. Many web sites will give you price changes if you sign up for an alert. No one can predict what will happen. Checking every day yourself is most efficient if you have the time.

I just set a budget and when a flight falls into my budget, I book it and stop looking so I don't feel bad if it goes down. I have a friend who keeps looking and then stresses when she finds a lower fare. That seems a bit silly to me but seems to make her happy in an odd way.

Clearly what's needed is an app which stops you seeing prices after you've booked.

Thank you, that's helpful.

I do the same, unless I'm pretty sure I got a good deal then I can feel even better by looking again .

Yes, i really like it...i’ve used it for trips to Taiwan and Rwanda in the last couple of years...when it notified me to buy, i double checked everywhere and it was accurate in finding the lowest prices...i am using it now to base my target dates for future trips...a big time saver over spot checking individual airlines.
