My SIL who is from Miami insists on 100% cotton for shirts. Denium is too heavy and takes too long to dry

A cotton t-shirt does not wrinkle much

"Don't fold your clothes when packing - roll them..."

I have been folding clothes for travel for around 50 years. (Military and civilian combined.) When I put a shirt on or trousers the creases are pretty much where they are supposed to be! If you fold right and pack right you can make just about anything arrive in fairly decent ready to wear shape. (Never had a need for a tuxedo on a trip and I definitely never wore a fancy dress anytime in my life there has never been a reason to pack them! )

Some people are good at packing. Some are not. I'm one of the Not-Good-At-Packing. When I'm traveling with someone else (my mother for instance) she does the packing as she did not like the way I did it. (She always rearranged my kitchen cabinets too.) So if you are good at it, you can fold clothes. But for the rest of us that don't have your skills - rolling works.

And when I need to wear a formal gown, I get ones that don't wrinkle - like crepe or knit.

Cotton t-shirts do not wrinkle much, I agree completely. However, this applies if and only if they have never been ironed. Ironing changes the texture of the fibres. Iron them once and you'll have to iron them after each future washing.

Now THAT is interesting....

I once knew a girl who ironed her bras.

When overseas if you look a little bit out of fashion or your t-shirt is a little wrinkled - who cares? No one back home will know!

Wrinkles show character . . . ;)

It won't "de-crease" your standing?

If I have maybe one or two items that I would prefer not to get too creased I sometimes fold them around another softer item, e.g. pullover. That means there are fewer hard folds in the item.

But generally, I would just recommend being more relaxed about the odd wrinkle than you might be at home - it's a holiday, not a fashion parade!
