Hi,
Im a 27 year old female with an 8 year old daughter. Now that she is old enough to appreciate other cultures, we have started travelling a bit to Europe and its been great but stressful at times and I have so far been a bit put off long haul holidays as of yet.

It would be lovely to find other single parents who would want to travel more also. I think it would be really nice to share the experience. I have looked at websites that offer holidays for single parents and they are often very expensive. Sharing costs of accomodation would make it a lot more affordable.

I really dont mind where we go, I'm just excited to explore anywhere and everywhere. On my list are places like USA, Canada, South America, India, China, Japan.

If there is anyone in a similar boat then I would love to plan something for next year some time.

Thanks
Diane

Independent travel is usually cheaper for the more unusual places.
It does take a lot more research but saves paying someone else to do the research for you.
Guest houses can be cheap and in many places there's Airbnb or Hostels to fall back on.
Get a copy of a good backpackers guide book like 'rough guide' or 'lonely planet' for the areas you want to travel to and it'll seem less daunting.

Thanks, I have considered doing that and I will but think it would also be nice to have someone else to share the experience with!

You may want to reach out to the single parent who several months ago started this thread here:

Looking at your profile and that of the person who posted this, it seems as if you'd both have a lot in common beside the desire to travel as single parents. It's possible you may have different destinations and/or travel styles in mind, but you my be able to network nonetheless.

Good luck.

In my experience it's definately better travelling with the right person, but it's also better on your own than being with the wrong person.
You really need to know a travel partner well or you could end up doing a disproportionate amount of 'what they want' but that you don't particularly enjoy.
Good Luck.
